Progress leads to boredom

Is that true? Today I introduced my son to the concept of boredom. Is it o.k. for a child to be bored? I remember many days during summer, laying around doing nothing. We would swim, dance, bake and create anything to avoid boredom. As dawn approached us Frances, Joaquin and I took are regular walk to The Coffee Bean. Later, we went to the park and played for 2 hours. When we came home Joaquin was asleep, and I took it upon myself to start my midwifery studies. Needless to say Frances was bored. We talked about what it is to be bored and how being bored is sometimes o.k. In fact it's an opportunity to just and think...or play trash truck.
